ps yes, i tried that trending ChatGBT Christmas photo thing and wow, what an eye opener about how fake things can get!

i'm single. i live alone. i'm an ocean away from all of my family.
yes, i get to celebrate in paradise - my version of a white Christmas at the beach.
but i deeply miss my mom who's no longer on this planet to celebrate with ๐
i miss the tradition of getting Christmas Eve pajamas from my cat and dog, who are also no longer here ๐ฅบ

but here's what i'm reminding myself during this season that doesn't always feel so merry ...

for every perfect holiday photo you see, there might be:
โข 3 outfit changes
โข 2 meltdowns
โข 1 passive-aggressive comment
โข countless deep breaths
โ
and you know what? THAT is the real human experience!
โ
will i probably end up taking a smiling photo in a santa hat? yes.
will there also be tears and feeling heavy? also definitely yes. (already cried twice lol)

so here's my reminder to you in case you need it that behind every perfect looking post there is a behind the scenes story
a multi-layered human experience we don't always get to see!

so remember this when scrolling:
โข your feelings are valid - whether merry or heavy or both at the exact same time
โข joy and grief can coexist
โข you're allowed to feel it all
โ
so focus on being present in YOUR present moment

2026 started exactly where 2025 did - right here in my lil slice of paradise in Mexico!
last year took me from dancing through my third Brazilian carnival to my first African adventure in Madagascar (!!!) with some US/Canada soul-filling visits in between โฆ
