hola Reader! "so Kerri, when are you heading back to Mexico?" it has actually been super surprising to me how often i get asked this question the first time was about three weeks after my Dad died ... β sometimes, when so much is on my plate, it feels like a subtle nudge/attack it's like an amplifier for my own internal voice whispering: "how am i not done yet? shouldn't i be further along by now?" (i'm fully aware this is my own personal shiz that i'm actively navigating!) β my Mom passed away four years ago at age 36, i became an adult child whose parents have both passed and sometimes i feel like an "orphan" even though someone very passionately told me i was NOT, because i am an adult β iβm navigating probate, HVAC rentals, and the crushing weight of emptying every single thing in my parents' home iβm not even remotely in the headspace to be booking flights back to Mexico my brain is preoccupied trying to figure out if we own the water heater and exactly how much chlorine iβm supposed to put in the pool before it rains β i'm doing pretty well at giving myself space and grace and i'm also practicing giving space and grace to everyone else who simply doesn't know that when both of your parents die and you're the executor of the estate, there's a lot of shit that needs to happen! β the only date that is an anchor point in my entire life right now is November 12th that's the day my temporary residency in Mexico expires, and i need to change it to permanent residency before that β or for some mysterious reason i need to stay in Canada longer than i think i will, and perhaps go there and come back i truly, truly do not know all the details yet β iβm finding silver linings and celebrating the sunshine β i am practicing not taking questions about my future travel plans personally while acknowledging my own grief induced sensitivity and the overwhelm these unknowns can bring β if youβre navigating your own deep transition or grief or literally anything, the world may try to rush you back into a plan (whether intentionally or not) and true self care is honoring your own timeline & gracefully stating, "i'm still figuring it out" β PS if you're craving a space to honor your own timeline, celebrate your messy middle, and navigate transitions with clarity and grace - my WOW Membership is designed exactly for that π you're invited and i'd love to have you! |
